Jason Ryan

Many people have asked us where we came up with the name Jason Ryan, so here is the story behind his name.

Aaron's middle name is Jason, AND Aaron really likes the name Jason, AND I came around to liking it, so Jason inherited his papa's middle name.




Ryan is a much longer story. All along we had liked the name Jason Riley, and that was to be our boys name (this name was chosen back when we were first married, before our miscarriage). After I became pregnant with Jason, we were talking about the name Riley (not knowing he was a boy), and I said that Riley is also a girls name. I didn't want our boy to have a girly name, so we ditched the name Riley and began discussing a new middle name. Well, at this time of discussing a new middle name to go with Jason, the Rangers were in the World Series. Anyone who knows Aaron knows he is a HUGE Rangers fan, and a HUGE Nolan Ryan fan. We saw Nolan Ryan sitting in the crowd during one of the games, and we thought, hey...Ryan...that's a good name. Aaron actually said "hey, Nolan Ryan, now THAT'S a good name." I quickly nipped the whole Nolan idea in the bud, but we did like the way Jason Ryan sounded, so we decided that this would be our boys new name.

Jason Ryan is named after his papa and Nolan Ryan. : )


The name Jason means HEALER
The name Ryan means LITTLE KING


Jason is also a biblical name. In Acts 17:5-9, Jason's home is used as a refuge for Paul and Silas. He is also mentioned briefly in Romans. I suppose as we study Acts in BSF next year, Jason will get to learn about the Jason in the Bible. : )

And that is the story behind out little Jason Ryan's name.

WHO KNEW...

...that baby wipes would be such handy little buggers? I am not even sure how I ever lived without them. I use them for so many things other than Jason's little bottom. I use them on his face and hands, I use them on my hands, and I use them to clean up little messes. Just the other day I used one to wipe my cell phone down. They are so soft AND they smell good.

I noticed at Babies R' Us that they sell Boogie Wipes. SERIOUSLY???, boogie wipes? What is the difference between a boogie wipe and a wipe you use on a baby's bottom? I think I will stick with my trusty old huggies wipes even when Jason starts needing them for his nose. (I was going to say for his boogers, but that sounded way to gross. :) )

Uncle Nate

This past weekend my brother Nate came up for a visit. We had a great time! We went to breakfast at Ihop Saturday morning, then we went to see Aaron at work so Nate could have his tires rotated. Our next stop was the park where Nate took some awesome pictures of Jason and I (see Facebook). After Aaron came home we all went to dinner at Interurban. Sunday consisted of church, talking, playing the Wii, watching Nascar, playing Farkle, having a bbq, and saying goodbye. It is always so fun to hang out with my brother! He always makes me laugh so hard!

We are the proud owners of a new grill! We have only had it for 2 weeks and have used it 5-6 times already. I haven't tried my hand at grilling just yet, but I will. Just look at those pork kabobs...delicious!

Jason Rolling Over at 11 weeks old

Jason has been rolling over from his tummy to his back since the second week of his life. We thought it was a fluke because he took a couple of weeks off, but now he is right back at it, rolling over anytime we place him on his tummy.

St. Patricks Day

One tradition I have carried into our marriage is the celebration of St. Patricks Day. My family has celebrated St. Patricks Day as long as I can remember. We are pretty serious about it...the option is wear green OR get pinched! No sooner had I walked out of the room with Jason in our pajamas than my 5 year old niece was pinching us because we didn't have green on yet. I asked her "what if we have on green undies and you just can't see them?" She wasn't buying that explanation. :) We always have on something green, and we always have corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes for dinner. This year my sister even made green noodles for lunch (spinach pesto with pasta).

I should add that we celebrate the day because we are part Irish. We don't just celebrate it as an excuse to drink green beer.

Michigan

A few weeks ago we made the decision to take a quick trip to Michigan to introduce Jason to my family there. It was a great decision and a wonderful trip! We love road trips, but we were slightly concerned that Jason might not love them as much as we do. He did so well the entire time! When he wasn't sleeping he was talking away to his little friends hanging from his car seat. We are certainly blessed to have such a happy, sweet baby.

It was fun to see my oldest siblings and their families, and I loved getting to introduce Jason to them. He got lots of snuggles for sure! We celebrated our Irish heritage with 2 different meals of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots...YUM!! We basically sat around and visited the entire time and ate lots of delicious food. We also enjoyed a visit from my best friend Andrea while we were there. I wish we lived MUCH closer to Andrea, she is really a great friend, and I miss her so much. It was great to see her again, and have her meet our little man. I would sum the trip up as short and sweet, and I am thankful the Lord gave us the opportunity to go up there.

In other news, well...there isn't much other news. Aaron is playing on a DTC softball league, I am playing Bunco once a month with DTC wives, Jason and I are doing BSF each week, and we are all enjoying all this beautiful weather.
