Five Months Old!

Just look at these chunky monkeys! This is NOT at all what they looked like five months ago! I know that it is wonderful that they are growing so well, and I am thankful, but it is sad how fast it is going. There are only a couple of things I want them to hurry up and do (hold their own bottles, and sit up on their own, and stop spitting up so much!), but the rest I want to just slow way down. Twins are SO MUCH FUN!!! It might be a lot of work, but they are fun to watch together. I would do it again (as if I have a choice in the matter.)

We are 5 months old today!! This holding hands business is legit/not posed. They hold hands so often! It is one way they comfort each other

Just the sweetest little man! Gideon is rolling over both ways now, he is wearing 6-9 month clothing, and he is super happy so long as his belly is full. This boy can eat!  He loves to sit up in the bumbo or excersaucer! He talks up a storm and squeals and laughs when we tickle him. He is a tickle bug!! :)

This precious girl is full of personality! Bethany is our mover. She will roll and scooch to get to whatever it is that she wants. She already keeps us on our toes! She is very ticklish and talkative. She is also going bald...poor thing! I think she felt badly for me loosing my hair so she decided to join in the fun. It's okay, bows hide a multitude of baldness! :)

One of their favorite things to do is watch Jason. He will teach them so much without even knowing it. Hopefully most of it will be good things...right!?! They are both enjoying their little toys, and are chomping away on teethers (no teeth yet).

My sweet family! Aaron is the best papa ever!

FredericksburgTexas

Aaron and I went away for a long weekend the first weekend in June. We dropped the kids off at my parents, and went down to Fredricksburg, Texas. It was a much needed get away, and a fun way to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We stayed in a gorgeous and cozy B&B set back on a nice piece of land. The B&B had animals (think one of those drive through animal parks) roaming around, a gorgeous pond and bridge, and a wrap around deck/porch. It was romantic. The B&B gave us certificates to use at local restaurants for breakfast. It was a good idea in theory, but they give you $7 per person per day, and the restaurants they can be used at don't have things on their menu for $7 or under. So that was a bummer. The first and only breakfast place we went to everything was a la carte. It was one of the fanciest places we had ever eaten in terms of price and atmosphere. If we had wanted to share a portion, there was a "plate charge" of $4.50. Very interesting, and very not us. But it was fun to try something new anyway. We ended up eating lunch food there, and using up our certificates. We just had donuts the following morning, and Sunday morning I don't remember what we ate (quite possibly nothing).

The first night we ate Mexican food at a restaurant called Mamacitas. Best Mexican food EVER!! Maybe it was just so good because I was hungry, I didn't have to cook, and it was just Aaron and I??? But whatever the case, I highly recommend it! We had fajitas for two! Yummy to the max! We drove up and down Main Street about 10x (no joke) before finding it and finding the drive to turn in to. It was worth the trouble though.

Friday we spent the morning and early afternoon shopping along Main street. There are a lot of fun shops, and each of them are unique. Aaron bought me a OK charm for my James Avery charm bracelet. We went in a neat bookstore that had a scrapbook paper section with some of the most unique and beautiful scrapbook paper I had ever seen. I of course could not pass that up, so I bought a couple of pieces. I purchased a candle from Circle E candles. This companies candles came highly recommended, so I decided to get one. Most of the scents were great, except for the scent "family night". That was some kind of funky smell I NEVER want to smell again. I chose "apple strudel" and it seriously smells good enough to eat. We went in a cheese/salsa/honey/mustard tasting store. We didn't need lunch after going in there. We tasted some delicious things. I tasted then bought a southwestern spice mix packet to mix with cream cheese or sour cream for a future date night. Did Aaron get anything you might ask? Well...actually...he did buy a cow tail at a general store. It is some kind of caramel candy thing...he enjoyed it. We did a lot more looking than buying, but it was fun to spend the time together, walking hand in hand and not having to worry about the kids. When we got back to the B&B we turned on the tv and saw that there was a tornado close to our home. Not just close, but CLOSE! So that was distracting for sure. We were praying for all of our friends safety and were thanking God we were far away. We finally decided to head to dinner in the midst of all that. We went to K-Bobs steakhouse. It was also very yummy! They had a huge salad bar with everything you could ever want (or not want) on a salad. I piled mine a little too high because the croutons were falling off on the way back to the table. Oops! That was embarrassing!

The second day we climbed Enchanted Rock. We were trying to decide between the hiking, or swimming at a State Park, and we chose to hike. If you know me, you know I LOVE water, and I love to swim!! On this day however, the hiking was just calling out my name! I wouldn't say I love hiking, but I do enjoy it. It wasn't very high of a climb, but it was steep, and it reminded me just how out of shape I am. We made it to the top, and the view was beautiful! It is fun to look out and see God's handiwork! When we were done hiking we headed to Hondos for lunch. That was a fun and different experience for us. Live music, go get your own food from the kitchen when it is ready, and the best Rueben sandwich I have ever had. We then returned to the B&B and played games. Phase 10 and Boggle. Awhile later we ventured out for dinner. We ate pizza at West End Pizza Co. It was good, but not great. We ordered a large, and it was HUGE! Oh yeah, I now remember what Sunday breakfast was...cold pizza!

Sunday we got up and started to make our way back to my parents. We played a rousing few rounds of the alphabet game...with rules we made up along the way. Talk about fun, we really enjoyed it and had some great laughs. We drove around for a bit looking for places to live in the DFW area, but we were close to my parents house, and to close to resist heading there and giving all of our kids a big squeeze. We missed them so much, and it was so fun to see them all again! They had a great time at Grandma and Grandpa's house!

Monday we made our way back home. Yes, we had a home to come home to, praise the Lord! We stopped at Olive Garden and had lunch with our kiddos.

We came away feeling refreshed, rested (even though I couldn't sleep in despite trying), and ready to tackle life. We also came away having not gone to a single winery...how did we manage that!? If you have the chance to go to Fredericksburg, TX, do so! It is romantic and enjoyable and gorgeous!

Yep, a terrible mirror picture to document our time.
We totally should have used the self timer, but hey!

 Enchanted Rock

Oh, oh, were half way there...

We made it!

Thrilled to stop for pictures

What a view!

In which I make a BIG announcement!

WE ARE MOVING!!

FOR REAL!

For some of you this will come as a complete surprise. For others you already know, and have been praying with us as we were seeking the Lord for wisdom and direction concerning a move. And some of you will say it was only a matter of time.

So where are we moving to, why are we moving and WHEN??? We are Lord-willing moving back to Texas at the end of July. Yes, that is very soon! We have been praying about it since we signed our lease 18 months ago. When we found out we were expecting twins and I had bed rest, we were really wishing we were closer to family. The Lord led us to Oklahoma just over 4 years ago for Aaron's job. We came with the intent to stay as long as the Lord wanted us here. We struggled through the first year here. We didn't make friends as quickly as we thought we should have, we didn't find a church as quickly as we wanted to, and on top of that, our plan and timing for having children wasn't God's plan. We had a miscarriage a couple of months into our marriage, and then were un-able to conceive after that. That was a tough time in some ways for us. We never for a second doubted that God wanted us here though, even in the tough times.

On this end of the four years, there are really only 2 things I don't love about Oklahoma. I HATE the tornado season with a passion! And I hate being away from family. We aren't all that far from family, but sometimes it feels too far. We have found a wonderful church to be a part of, we have built some friendships, I made some dear BSF friends, and we have had three children during our time here. Aaron's job has been wonderful, it has provided for our family. Moving back is bittersweet. I am sad to leave friends, sad to leave the state our children were born in. Sad to leave my wonderful doctors (that might seem weird, but it's true.) Side note: my ob/gyn's office and the hospital where our babies were born was destroyed in the May 20th tornado. So very sad!

I never thought I would say I would miss Oklahoma, but I will. Very much! I am however very excited for this new chapter in our lives! The Lord leads in ways we don't always understand, but we know He blesses obedience. I never would have guessed I would live in OK for a season, and yet I did, and I have known the goodness of the Lord during my time here. We have been blessed beyond measure! And now, for whatever amount of time He may have us in Texas, I know He will also use us and teach us and shape us while we are there. I am looking forward to more family time, our children growing up with their cousins, making new friends, re-connecting with old friends, finding a new church body to fellowship with, finding new doctors (I'll be honest, not looking forward to this part), making new memories, and enjoying life!

Aaron will be transferring back with Discount Tire, and we will Lord-willing live in the McKinney'ish area. We are still looking for a place to live, and hope to have that nailed down in the next couple of weeks.

Yay for change! Praising God for His goodness and faithfulness to our family! To God be the glory, great things He has done!

Five Years Ago

It was on this day five years ago that I married the love of my life, Aaron. In some ways it seems like just yesterday, and in other ways it seems like we have been married much longer (in a good way). I enjoy being married to Aaron! He brings out the best in me. He is so sweet to me, and has cared for and loved me more than I could have imagined. God blessed me with a wonderful husband, and I am so grateful for that.

A quick re-cap of the last 5 years:

-Honeymooned in Colorado Springs
-House sat for 7 months in Texas then packed up and moved to Oklahoma. We lived in Moore, OK for one year and then moved out to Yukon, OK.
-Aaron has worked for Discount Tire Company the whole 5 years (and more) which has provided for me to stay at home.
-We found a wonderful church home at FBC Mustang.
-We welcomed Jason Ryan into our family in January 2011 after much waiting and prayer (and a lot of doctors).
-After much more prayer and even more doctors, we welcomed two more precious blessings into our family, Gideon Michael and Bethany Paige. They arrived in January 2013, exactly 2 years and 2 weeks after Jason was born.

I have been blessed to stay home with our children. I have become a much better cook over the last 5 years (I didn't cook much when I lived at home with my parents). I was able to serve as a children's leader in Bible Study Fellowship for a couple years, and I just LOVED doing that! I spend my days caring for our home, my husband and our kids.

Aaron spends his days working hard to provide for all of us. We are so thankful for his job with DTC. He is a wonderful father and spiritual leader.

We spend as much time together as we can. We frequent the zoo and parks. We have taken little family vacations to places like Michigan, Ohio, and Texas. We have gone camping a couple of times. We have dodged tornadoes, gone to many baseball games, played tennis, and survived bed rest. We have laughed and cried together. So many wonderful memories!

We are blessed! Here's to many, many more years!!!

 that was then

this is now (spring chickens!)
